Renee A. Curreri, CPA, MBA, Finance Coach
Renee Curreri is an experienced CFO, corporate executive and leader who understands the challenges facing many companies today. Her financial leadership has resulted in significant improvements in bottom line performance for her constituents. While experienced with organizations of varying size and complexity, Renee focuses on providing emerging and rapid-growth companies strong financial and operational foundations to enable growth and effective utilization of resources, as well as successful execution of an exit strategy. By way of example, Renee helped VasTech, Inc., a software company and client since mid-2007, re-engineer financial processes and convert to accrual-basis accounting in preparation for the eventual sale of the company to Lawson Software in 2008. As part of the sellers’ M&A team, Renee assisted the VirtualCDO team with due diligence procedures and coordinated the independent accountants’ review process. Similarly, Renee assisted an Annapolis-based consumer products company through the sale of its business in 2007 and is currently winding up its Hong Kong operations. In the past several years, Renee has also been engaged on other short-term projects related to financing and M&A activities.
Renee’s ongoing clients include two technology-based companies, two biotech start-ups and an industrial products company. As their outsourced CFO, Renee provides financial direction specific to each of their situations, company life cycles and strategic goals. For example, AVIcode, Inc. engaged Renee as its outsourced CFO in 2004. She provided the Baltimore-based software company flexibility it needed during the critical start-up period to utilize proven, experienced financial leadership without making a permanent hiring investment. Renee has given AVIcode customized attention to financial and administrative issues facing the company, including preparation of financial plans, creation of accounting and cash management procedures and systems, forecasts and monthly statements, risk management direction and assistance with investor due diligence activities. She continues to guide AVIcode toward its goal of being acquired in the next twelve months.
Prior to becoming an independent advisor, Renee served as CFO of a high-growth, international manufacturer and wholesaler of home and garden gift décor, and has held a number of other executive positions in public and private companies. She served as Vice President of Investor Relations and Corporate Secretary for an NYSE-traded multi-national and held a number of senior financial positions for a Fortune 500 conglomerate. In these roles, she led and executed significant strategic processes, including bank financing, securities offerings (including an IPO), acquisitions and corporate reorganizations, and human resources and risk management programs. A Certified Public Accountant, Renee is a member of the State Society of CPA’s, the AICPA, and the Greater Baltimore Technology Council. She has served on the Steering Committee of the Richmond, VA Controllers’ Round Table and conducted financial seminars and leadership conferences for managers, executives and entrepreneurs in her various roles. Renee earned a bachelors degree in business administration with highest honors from the University of Notre Dame. She holds an MBA from the University of Richmond.
